Alida & Vincenzo – Your Hosts in Sicily

For over 40 years, Alida, a Dutch native, has called Sicily home. She met her husband, Vincenzo Todaro, in Paris, and after spending a decade in Amsterdam, they chose to settle in Sicily, where they fell in love with an old olive mill country house and dedicated years to its restoration.

Now nearly retired from professional life, Alida continues to share her love for the island with guests. Fluent in Dutch, Italian, French, German, and English, she offers invaluable insights into Sicily’s hidden gems, cultural highlights, and local traditions, ensuring visitors experience the island in an authentic and unforgettable way.

Vincenzo Todaro, known as Brasella, was born in the Sicilian inland, where early hardships shaped his artistic path. At 17, he set off to explore the great artistic centers of Paris, Amsterdam, London, and Madrid, experimenting with different styles before forging his own—a striking fusion of surrealism, expressionism, and Renaissance influences.

Despite his strong Central European influences, Brasella never lost his deep connection to Sicily. Returning to his homeland, he continued to evolve as an artist, blending his international experiences with his Sicilian heritage. His bold, evocative paintings engage in dialogue with the past while confronting the complexities of contemporary society.
